Tom Murphy plays mandolin, guitar and octave mandolin with a variety of bands and songwriters in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. Tom has explored the sounds of acoustic music for over four decades. Musical influences include David Grisman, Norman Blake, Tony Rice, John Hartford, and Sam Bush.
Tom performs regionally at events in addition to festivals including Grand Targhee, Vancouver, Sisters, and The European World of Bluegrass. He teaches privately and at music camps throughout North America and Europe. His inventive solos, driving rhythm, and harmony vocals span the genres from bluegrass, jazz, and Americana to rock.
